On June 18, 2021, Markovits, Stock & DeMarco and its co-counsel filed a data breach class action on behalf of Plaintiffs Clifford Harris, Andrew Kantack and Gerald Davis against USA-Waste Management Resources, LLC in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. On January 21, 2021, Waste Management discovered suspicious activity on its network and later determined that between January 21, 2021 and January 23, 2021, an authorized party gained accesses to certain of Waste Management’s current and former employees sensitive personally identifiable information including full names, dates of birth, driver’s licenses numbers, and social security numbers or National IDs (“PII”). Complaint, ¶¶ 1-3. Several months later, on May 28, 2021, Waste Management mailed notification letters to those individuals whose PII was included in the Data Breach. Complaint, ¶ 4. The Data Breach impacted more than 268,000 individuals. Complaint, ¶ 5.
Plaintiffs seek damages on behalf of themselves and the class they seek to represent resulting from Waste Management’s negligent disclosure of their confidential personal information. Complaint, page 31.
