Maximus Data Breach Class Action Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 18, 2021, Maximus, as state contractor to Ohio Medicaid providers, sent notice that it “experienced a data breach in which the personal information of Medicaid healthcare providers” was compromised.[1] It was determined Maximus’s “server was impermissibly accessed starting on May 17, 2021.”[2] The breach was discovered on May 19, 2021.

The Maximus data breach potentially exposed provider names, social security numbers, addresses, and other information, and affects 334,690 individuals.[3]
