by | Jul 30, 2021 | Firm News

Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, a law firm experienced in data breach cases, is investigating claims on behalf of victims of a data breach involving data entrusted to UC San Diego Health.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 27, 2021, UC San Diego Health reported that it was involved in a data breach stemming from unauthorized access to some employee email accounts.[1]  The unauthorized access took place between December 2, 2020 and April 8, 2020. UC San Diego Health reported that it is “aware that these emails accounts contained personal information about which data was impacted.”[2]

WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED?

The UC San Diego Health data breach potentially exposed each victim’s full name, address, date of birth, email, fax number, claims information, date and cost of health care services and claims identifiers, prescription information, treatment information, medical information, Social Security number, government identification number, payment card number or financial account number and security code, student ID number and username and password.[3]
