PAL CARD MINNESOTA, LLC DATA BREACH CLASS ACTION INVESTIGATION

Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, a law firm experienced in data breach cases, is investigating claims on behalf of victims of a data breach involving data entrusted to PAL Card Minnesota, LLC, potentially including the following personal information: “names, addresses, phone number and email address; PAL account number; and driver’s license number, social security number, passport number or other identification numbers.”[1] PAL Card Minnesota, LLC is located at 181 River Ridge Circle South, Burnsville, MN 55337.

 

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to the data breach notice letter PAL Card Minnesota sent to the Maine Attorney General’s office, PAL Card Minnesota experienced outages on September 28, 2021 “and discovered that the company was the victim of a ransomware attack…”[2]  Notably, PAL Card Minnesota publicized that the cybercriminals informed it that “they retained copies [of] much of the data and threatened to leak the information which could make it available to other cybercriminals.”[3]

It its reporting to the Main Attorney General, PAL Card Minnesota indicated that approximately 166,689 individuals’ sensitive, personal information was exposed in the data breach.

 

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

PAL Card Minnesota stated that the following information was included in the data breach,

  • Names,
  • Addresses,
  • Phone number and email address,
  • PAL account number, and,
  • driver’s license, social security number, passport number or other identification numbers.[4]
