BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy Services, LLC Data Breach Investigation

by | Dec 16, 2021 | Firm News

Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, a law firm experienced in data breach litigation, is investigating claims on behalf of victims of a data breach involving BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy Services, LLC (“BioPlus”).

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to a sample notice letter provided to the California Attorney General, on November 11, 2021, BioPlus identified suspicious activity on its network.[1] Following an investigation, BioPlus determined that an unauthorized third-party gained access to its network between October 25, 2021 and November 11, 2021. During this time, the unauthorized party accessed files containing the sensitive personal and health information of BioPlus patients.

The investigation performed by BioPlus could not rule out the possibility that information pertaining to all current and former BioPlus patients may have been subject to unauthorized access.[2]

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

In the sample data breach notice provided to California Attorney General, BioPlus states that the following data of its patients was impacted in the breach:

  • names,
  • addresses,
  • dates of birth,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • medical record numbers,
  • current/former health plan member ID numbers,
  • claims information,
  • prescription medication information, and
  • diagnoses.
