by | Dec 26, 2021 | Firm News

The law firm Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, a law firm experienced in handling data breach class actions, is investigating claims on behalf of individuals who made purchases online with either a credit card or debit card from Tackle Warehouse, Running Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse, and Skate Warehouse, a group of affiliated websites that had a data breach exposing its customers’ payment card information.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 16, 2021, several affiliated websites (Tackle Warehouse, Running Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse, and Skate Warehouse) announced that they experienced a data breach where an unauthorized third party gained access to client credit card data. The affiliated websites first learned of the breach on October 15th but waited almost two months to notify individuals of the breach. Data from these websites may have been stolen as early as October 1, 2021.

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

The following information was affected:

  • Full name
  • Financial account number
  • Credit card number (with CVV)
  • Debit card number (with CVV)
  • Website account password

This information is called your Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”). It tells others about you and is considered part of your identity. Businesses are required to secure this information or risk facing statutory penalties, among other legal penalties. Stolen PII can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity. Roughly 1,813,244 purchasers from Tackle Warehouse, Running Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse, and Skate Warehouse had their payment card (debit or credit card) information compromised in the data breach.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE TACKLE WAREHOUSE, RUNNING WAREHOUSE, TENNIS WAREHOUSE, AND SKATE WAREOUSE DATA BREACH OR IF I MADE PURCHASES FROM THESE WEBSITES AND THEN HAD FRAUDULENT CHARGES ON MY PAYMENT CARD?
