Creative Services, Inc. Data Breach Class Action Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to information recently provided to the Maine Attorney General by its counsel, on or around November 26, 2021, Creative Services, Inc., detected unusual activity within its computer systems and determined a cyber-attack occurred where certain files were copied from those systems.[1] On January 25, 2022, Creative Services, Inc.’s investigation determined that there was unauthorized access to certain files, which contained personal information of current and former employees, as well as employment candidates, of its customers.[2]

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?

Creative Services, Inc. did not notify victims of the breach until February 23, 2022.[3]  In total, the data of 164,673 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4] The letters to victims do not explain why Creative Services, Inc. waited approximately three months after learning of the breach to start notifying victims.[5]

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

Creative Services, Inc. has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:

  • Full names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • Dates of birth,
  • Driver’s license numbers,
  • Financial information, and
  • Credit/Debit card information.[6]
