WHAT HAPPENED?

Malley’s Candies, Inc. recently detected a cyberattack on its computer systems from April 11, 2021, through July 1, 2022.[1] The investigation that followed determined that an unauthorized actor had access to certain Malley’s Candies, Inc. systems and obtained information stored on Malley’s Candies, Inc.’s systems.[2] Malley’s Candies, Inc. admitted the breach involves confidential and personal information.[3] Malley’s Candies, Inc. has disclosed names, contact information, credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates, and CVVs were included in the breach.[4]

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?

Malley’s Candies, Inc. did not report the data breach to the authorities and the affected parties until August 5, 2022.[5] In total, the data of 21,577 individuals was compromised in the breach.[6] The breach notification letters to victims do not explain why Malley’s Candies, Inc. waited over a months after learning of the breach to start notifying victims.[7]
