We congratulate Chris Stock, one of Markovits, Stock & DeMarco’s founding partners, for being asked by Ohio Speaker of the House, Clifford A. Rosenberger, to serve on a 15-member Medical Marijuana Task Force, led by Representative Kirk Schuring. The task force will examine the issue of medical marijuana, including whether and how to legalize it in Ohio. Stock brings his considerable marijuana law and policy expertise to the task force.
Stock is a recognized national leader in marijuana law and policy. Stock is the CEO of the State and High Group, a consulting firm that specializes in advising public and private entities on complex policy and regulatory matters, particularly those surrounding marijuana. Stock has consulted with numerous public and private entities on the many challenges and opportunities associated with decriminalizing marijuana. He has also drafted legislation and several constitutional amendments regarding various aspects of marijuana legalization.
The task force includes lawmakers, medical and legal professionals, and representatives from business and law enforcement. In addition to Stock, the task force’s roster includes State Representative Dr. Steve Huffman, State Representative Dan Ramos, Dr. Brian Santin (Ohio State Medical Association), Nick Lashutka (president of the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association), Betty Montgomery (former Ohio attorney general), Jimmy Gould (co-founder of ResponsibleOhio), Bill Sopko (chair of Ohio Manufacturer’s Association), Lora Miller (Ohio Council of Retail Merchants), Linda Hondros (Ohio Chamber of Commerce), Matt Szollosi (Affiliated Construction Trades), Larry Moliterno (Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers), Gary Wolske (Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio), Matt Lutz (Muskingum County Sherriff and third vice president of the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association).
