Court Approves Duke Energy Settlement Check Distribution
Cincinnati, Ohio (January 20, 2017), Chief Judge Edmund A. Sargus Jr. today gave his final approval to allow the distribution of Duke Energy Settlement checks (for more information, go to www.dukeclassaction.com). Residential claimants who filed a claim and were approved based on payments of Duke electricity bills for the full four-year class period will receive approximately $140. Non-residential claimants may receive more compensation based on their usage during the class period. Now that we have received the court’s approval, over 200,000 checks will begin going out in a matter of weeks.
“We are incredibly pleased with the success of the settlement. Our firm has never seen a class action with such high participation coupled with significant compensation. We’re sure the over 200,000 Duke Energy customers with approved claims will also be very pleased,” said Bill Markovits, lead counsel for the plaintiffs and a founding partner of Markovits, Stock & DeMarco.
