Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC is investigating the potential filing of a data breach class action against Five Rivers Health Centers (“Five Rivers”) on behalf of patient victims whose sensitive personal and medical information was exposed in a recent data breach.
On May 28, 2021, Five Rivers began notifying patients about a data breach resulting from a phishing email incident. A copy of Five Rivers’ Notice Regarding Security Incident can be viewed here.
Five Rivers publicized that even though the data security breach occurred between April 1, 2020 and June 2, 2020, it didn’t discover the problem until almost a year later on March 31, 2021 and didn’t notify the affected patients until May 28, 2021. The notice does not explain why the unauthorized access was gained over a year ago and just reported to affected patients on May 28, 2021.
