Luttrell Staffing Group is a staffing agency with more than 40 locations across seven states throughout the United States.
WHAT HAPPENED?
According to information recently submitted to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, from June 10, 2021 through June 23, 2021, Luttrell Staffing Group’s network was encrypted with malware by a hacker.[1] As a result, the unauthorized hacker had access to certain files within these systems and certain current and former Luttrell Staffing Group employee and associate information was accessed and acquired.[2]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Luttrell Staffing Group did not begin notifying victims of the breach until February 1, 2022.[3] In total, the data of approximately 43,000 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4] The letters to victims do not explain why Luttrell Staffing Group waited approximately eight months after learning of the breach to start notifying victims.[5]
WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?
Luttrell Staffing Group has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:
- names,
- Social Security numbers,
- dates of birth,
- government-issued identification numbers,
- financial account information,
- credit and debit card information,
- biometric information,
- medical/treatment information, and
- health insurance information.[6]
