WHAT HAPPENED?
On October 9, 2021, Ferrara Candy Company identified an unauthorized individual accessed private data stored the company’s computer systems and network.[1] In response, Ferrara Candy Company engaged in an investigation of the incident to learn more about its causes, and confirmed on March 30, 2022 that certain data containing victim’s personal information was accessed.[2]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Ferrara Candy Company did not notify victims of the breach until April 29, 2022.[3] In total, the data of 8,359 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4] Ferrara Candy Company admitted it hasn’t determined the full scope of the compromise yet, but that it decided to inform all individuals whose information was likely impacted.
WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?
Ferrara Candy has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:
- full names,
- dates of birth,
- financial account information,
- Social Security numbers,
- driver’s license numbers,
- birth certificates,
- passport numbers or other government issued identification numbers,
- digital / electronic signatures,
- mother’s maiden name,
- and/or medical information.[5]
