WHAT HAPPENED?

Lawson Products, Inc., one of the nation’s largest distributors of maintenance and repair supplies, detected a cyberattack on its computer systems on February 8, 2022.[1] The investigation that followed determined that an unauthorized actor had access to certain Lawson Products, Inc. systems and obtained the personal information stored on Lawson Products, Inc.’s systems.[2] Lawson Products, Inc. admitted the breach involves confidential and personal information of consumers.[3] Lawson Products, Inc. did not report the data breach to the authorities and the affected parties until July 11, 2022.[4]

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

Lawson Products, Inc. has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:

  • full names,
  • addresses,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • driver’s license numbers,
  • state-issued identification numbers,
  • passport numbers,
  • financial account information, and
  • medical treatment information.[5]
