WHAT HAPPENED?
On September 30, 2021, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network detected a cyberattack on its computer systems.[1] The investigation that followed determined that an unauthorized actor had access to certain Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network systems for five days and obtained information stored on Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network’s systems.[2]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network did not report the data breach to the authorities and the affected parties until August 24, 2022.[3] In total, the data of 190,220 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4] Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network has not explained why it waited nearly a year to disclose the breach.
WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?
Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:
- full names,
- financial account Numbers,
- credit/debit card numbers,
- security or access codes, and
- passwords or PINs for the accounts.[5]
