Advocate Aurora Health recently admitted it installed “pixels” on its website that may have breached the medical data of its patients and others. Advocate Aurora Health was using Internet tracking technologies, such as Google and Meta (Facebook), that it implemented to understand how patients and others interact with its websites. In other words, when using Advocate Aurora Health sites, certain patient protected information would be disclosed to other vendors without the patient’s permission.
Advocate Aurora Health did not report the data breach to the authorities and the affected parties until October 14, 2022. Advocate Aurora Health indicated that the breach affected over 3,000,000 patients.

- IP addresses,
- proximity to an Advocate Aurora Health location,
