Managed Care Data Breach Class Action Investigation

Managed Care, located in located in Atlanta, Georgia experienced a data breach and notified the Attorney General of Maine of such breach on May 26, 2023.

 

WHAT HAPPENED?

Managed Care confirmed an unauthorized actor gained access to its internal network between February 26, 2023 and March 7, 2023. The notice letter Managed Care issued on May 26, 2023 indicated that Social Security numbers were included in the information disclosed in the data breach and that the breach compromised roughly 8,923,662 individuals’ personal information.

 

WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?

Managed Care reported that the following information was included in the data breach:

  • Demographic information to identify and contact you, such as full name, date of birth, address, telephone and email;
  • Social Security number,
  • Driver’s license number or government-issued identification number;
  • Health insurance information such as name of plan/government payor, member/Medicaid/Medicare ID number, plan and/or group number; and,
  • Information regarding dental/orthodontic care.[1]
