WHAT HAPPENED?
On April 5, 2023, Mercer University learned that it had experienced a data breach.[1] In its notice letter to the victims, Mercer stated that its systems were accessed by an unauthorized attacker between February 12, 2023, and February 24, 2023. The University began investigating the data breach on April 5, 2023, and learned on April 30, 2023, that sensitive personal information belonging to current and former Mercer students, employees, and other affiliates.[2]

Mercer University has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:
- Full names;
- Drivers’ license numbers; and
- Social Security numbers.[3]
