TIAA reported on July 14, 2023, that it has experienced a data breach impacting an estimated 2,630,717 individuals associated with TIAA. At this time, the cause of the data breach is believed to be use of the MOVEit file-transfer software to transmit information in an unsafe or unsecured manner.
WHAT INFORMATION WAS EXPOSED IN THE DATA BREACH?
The full scope of the data breach has not yet been disclosed, but TIAA has disclosed that the unauthorized third-party that was able to access the following private information:
- Full names; and
- Social Security numbers
