University of Rochester Data Breach Class Action Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On May 31, 2023, the University of Rochester learned that it had been exposed in a data breach.[1] In its notice letter to the victims, the University of Rochester stated that its information and systems were accessed by an unauthorized attacker on or around May 27, 2023. The University began investigating the data breach shortly after learning of the attack, though the full nature and scope of the data breach have not yet been disclosed.[2]

The University of Rochester has disclosed the following information was included in the data breach:

  • Full names; and
  • Social Security numbers.[3]
