WHAT HAPPENED?

UI Community HomeCare detected a cyberattack on its computer systems and network on March 23, 2023.[1] UI Community HomeCare has disclosed the breach involves confidential and personal information, including but not limited to:

  • names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • dates of birth,
  • addresses,
  • phone numbers,
  • private medical information,
  • health insurance information,
  • billing and claims information,
  • medical history information, and
  • diagnosis and treatment information.[2]

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?

UI Community HomeCare did not report the data breach to the authorities and the affected parties for months – not until August 14, 2023.[3] In total, the data of 67,897 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4]
