WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 6, 2022, Lifeline Systems Company detected a cyberattack on its computer systems and network, that went on from July 27, 2022, through August 6, 2022.[1] Lifeline Systems Company has disclosed the breach involves the confidential and personal information on its systems, including but not limited to:
- names,
- Social Security numbers,
- driver’s license numbers, and/or
- state identification numbers.[2]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Lifeline Systems Company did not report the data breach to the authorities and many of the affected parties for over a year – until September 7, 2023.[3] In total, the data of 78,849 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4]
