WHAT HAPPENED?
Regional Family Medicine detected a cyberattack on its computer systems and network on June 26, 2023.[1] However, the data breach began on June 8, 2023, and continued for weeks until the discovery.[2] Regional Family Medicine has disclosed the breach involves the confidential and personal information on its systems, including but not limited to:
- names,
- Social Security numbers,
- dates of birth,
- biometric data,
- medical information,
- health insurance information,
- account numbers,
- workplace evaluations, and
- driver’s license/state ID numbers.[3]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Regional Family Medicine did not report the data breach to the authorities and many of the affected parties until December 12, 2023.[4] In total, the data of 80,166 individuals was compromised in the breach.[5]
