WHAT HAPPENED?
Singing River Health System detected a cyberattack on its computer systems and network that occurred on August 19, 2023.[1] Singing River Health System has now disclosed the breach involves the confidential and personal information on its systems, including but not limited to:
- full names,
- dates of birth,
- addresses,
- Social Security numbers,
- medical information, and
- health insurance information.[2]
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IMPACTED BY THE DATA BREACH?
Singing River Health System did not report the data breach to the authorities and many of the affected parties for months following the breach – not until January 12, 2024.[3] In total, the data of at least 252,890 individuals was compromised in the breach.[4]
